This programme is for singers seeking to add a professional-level choral experience – as part of the ZêzereArts Choral Ensemble preparing specially selected repertoire for a mid-week performance – to participation with the full Festival Choir in two end of week concerts.
This semi-professional choral programme will require participants to pass an audition monitored by the Guest Conductor and the Artistic Director. The standard will be similar to that of an entry-level professional chorister. Successful candidates will join an ensemble of around 24 singers including eight members of Záve and a group of Záve probationers to rehearse and perform with our guest conductor, Vasco Negreiros, before joining the Festival Choir for the Four Choral Seasons programme conducted by Artistic Director, Brian MacKay.
There are also optional activities available to all participants: new for 2023 will be our programme of workshop events, led by experienced practitioners and researchers, and, for those wishing to develop their vocal technique, we offer individual singing lessons.
Our performance venues feature UNESCO world heritage monuments and medieval buildings, such as the Convento de Cristo, Batalha Monastery, and the Church of Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Tomar.
