ZêzereArts is pleased to announce the inclusion of a new production of Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi in the 2021 festival. Rehearsals will begin on 26th of July with performances from the 6th to 8th of August in Ferreira do Zêzere and Tomar. There is also the possibility the production will then travel to the city of Évora.

Performances will be sung in Italian with Portuguese sub-titles and accompanied by chamber orchestra. The production will be designed and directed by an international opera director, Christopher Cowell, with ZêzereArts Artistic Director, Brian MacKay conducting the Musicamerata orchestral ensemble.

ZêzereArts Opera productions perform a very specific function in terms of career development for singers. Applications to audition are invited from advanced students, young and developing professional singers and likewise, established professional singers. All applications are welcome. 

Successful candidates will be offered a rôle under conditions commensurate with their experience and professional status. All will receive scholarships which will cover their accommodation. There will also be provision for the payment of modest performance fees where appropriate.
