Luís Rendas Pereira’s solo work spans opera, oratorio and song.
He has performed leading roles in a number of operas, from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and
Donizetti’s Rita to world premieres Edward d’Abreu’s Ainda não vi-te as mãos and Geraldo and
Samira by Amílcar Vasques Dias.
Oratorio and concert highlights as a soloist include Charpentier’s Te Deum, ‘The Creation’ by
Hadyn, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, B Minor Mass and Magnificat, in addition to the Requiems of
Mozart, Faure, Durufle and Delius.
Luis has performed with a variety of orchestras and ensembles, from the Orquestra Filarmonia das
Beiras and the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira to the Orquestra Barroca da Casa da Música and the
Remix Ensemble from all over Portugal, under the direction of conductors such as H.Niquet,
L.Cummings, P. Hillier, C. Costa, B.Brönnimann, A.Vassalo Lourenço, J.Ferreira Lobo, B. MacKay and
G. Lourenço.
As a professional choral singer, he has been a member of the Casa da Música Chamber Choir since
2011.
Luis won 1st prize (ex-aequo) at the Concurso de Santa Cecilia in 2013, and 3rd prize at the Concursos
Cidade do Fundão in 2014 and 2016. Since 2014 he has presented a number of recitals together with the
pianist Rita Seara, with a special focus on Portuguese song repertoire. In 2019, he presented the recital
entitled ‘Perdido e Amado’ with soprano Susana Vieira. He has participated in and also produced a
diversity of opera galas.
