Luís António Freitas, baritone, completed his master’s degree in Music Teaching (singing) at the University of Aveiro in 2022, in the class of professor Isabel Alcobia. He has studied with several teachers, namely: João Lourenço, Ulrike Sonntag, Pierre Mak, Helen Lawson, among others.
He regularly performs as a soloist in opera, including the roles of Achilla – Giulio Cesare in Egitto – Handel; Hermen, Crespel and Dapertutto – Les contes d’Hoffmann – Jacques Offenbach; Doctor and Notary – Gianni Schicchi – Giacomo Puccini and Sage – Floresta de Eurico Carrapatoso. In the field of Oratorio, he has performed as soloist in Giacomo Puccini’s Messa di Gloria.
In choral music, his participation with the choir Auri Voces e Voz Nua stands out, which he joined in 2015, having already participated in the recording of 2 CDs, in addition to several presentations on the national and international scene. In 2021 he sang with the vocal ensemble Záve (ZêzereArts Ensemble Vocal) for the first time.
He has performed alongside maestros such as António Vassalo Lourenço, Juliana Sousa, Aoife Hiney, Óscar Saraiva, Bruno Martins, Timothy Henty, Jan Wierzba, José Ferreira Lobo, Martin André and Brian MacKay.
Luís currently teaches ensemble classes (choir) at the Artistic School of the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Aveiro.
