This shorter programme is ideal for choral singers wishing to participate in the festival – rehearsing and performing as part of the Festival Choir, and enjoying the atmosphere and sights of Tomar – but for whom a commitment of four singing days better suits their own travel or holiday plans.
Rehearsals will begin on Wednesday 19th July preparing Four Choral Seasons, an exciting programme of classical to contemporary repertoire featuring works by Haydn, Debussy and Gjeilo, under the direction of Artistic Director Brian MacKay. Four Choral Seasons will be presented at the Mosteiro da Batalha on Friday 21st and in the Convento de Cristo on Saturday 22nd July.
Throughout the four days, the Festival Choir will be coached by members of Záve, our resident professional vocal ensemble, who will also join you for your concerts.
To enhance the ZêzereArts choral experience, there are also optional activities available to all Festival Choir participants: new for 2023 will be our programme of workshop events, led by experienced practitioners and researchers, and, for those wishing to develop their vocal technique, we offer individual singing lessons.
Our performance venues feature UNESCO world heritage monuments and medieval buildings, such as the Convento de Cristo, Batalha Monastery, and the Church of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia, in Tomar.
