The ZêzereArts Festival brings together local and international music lovers, young and old, amateur and professional, to participate in an inspirational programme within the unique landscape of Portugal’s Medio-Tejo region. Our annual Festival is an invitation event for solo singers, choral singers, and instrumentalists, culminating in a wide range of quality performances open to the public.
Featuring a series of masterclasses, courses, workshops and rehearsals, as well as collaborations with composers and artists, the ZêzereArts Festival offers career development experience for musicians and a programme of performances for local audiences and visiting tourists.
ZêzereArts Festival performances are presented across this region of central Portugal through which the river Zêzere flows. Festival locations include Ferreira do Zêzere, the village of Dornes, the Convento de Cristo, the City of Tomar, Batalha Monastery, Alcobaça Monastery and Almourol Castle in Vila Nova da Barquinha. These stunning venues in a beautiful part of the world create a great opportunity for a cultural holiday.
Visitors are welcome to our festival where they can enjoy high quality music making, good food, sunshine, swimming, boating, walking and the peaceful pleasures of rural central Portugal and the remarkable world heritage sites.
Participants enjoy a rewarding combination of work, learning, leisure and memorable experiences each year, and there are many opportunities. Choral singers can join the Festival Choir and sing a wide range of repertoire in some of the most amazing buildings in the world; Choirs can perform their own full-length concert and take part in joint Festival performances; Singers can be invited to perform in our opera productions, concerts and recitals; and Advanced students are welcomed to our Strings Masterclasses and Choir, to study with top teachers and participate in chamber music, solo, choral and orchestral performances.
